Today\’s quote comes to us from former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw.
Mr. Brokaw was on the David Letterman show last night, and had this to say about vladimir putin\’s invasion and apparent takeover of Crimea:
“Idon\’t know for sure what was in his [Putin\’s] mind, but the fact isthat when chemical weapons were used in Syria and they werediscovered, I didn\’t think it was President Obama\’s finest moment. Hesaid there\’s a red line, then he kept moving that sucker, as theysay, you know, all over Syria. And at one point, President Putincomes in, puts in an editorial op/ed page piece in the New York Timesabout, \’We\’re back.\’ Then he sends – he\’s got veryskilled diplomats here at the United Nations and running the foreignministry – he gets them involved. So I think he might have takenthe measure of President Obama and said, \’I may be able to testthis guy.\’ I don\’t know that for sure, David, but it has thatappearance.”
Doh.
I award Mr. Brokaw Quote Of The Day Honors for letting us in on the political equivalent of telling us that the sun rises in the east, but you can\’t see it when the skies are cloudy.
Next thing you know, Mr. Brokaw will expose the fact that you can tell asparagus from tomatoes because they have a different color and shape.
Any more of these hard-hitting insights, and maybe even a few of his mainstream media counterparts – the ones who still cannot find problems in Mr. Obama\’s handling of foreign policy – will start to catch on.
It\’s a long shot, I admit. But you never know….
