ARE PRO-LIFERS CONDUCTING A WAR ON WOMEN?

If you\’re pro-life – i.e. anti-abortion in most or all cases – are you engaging in a war on women?

The left certainly thinks so.  And so does mainstream media (make of that similarity what you will).

But is it true?

Before you answer, read the following excerpts from the latest CNN poll – and remember that it is far from the only poll which shows these results:

Aboutone in four Americans say that abortion should be legal in allcircumstances, one in five say abortion should always be illegal, andslightly over half the public thinks abortion should be legal insome, but not all, circumstances, according to a national pollreleased Thursday.

ACNN/ORC International survey also indicates that a majority opposestaxpayer money being used to pay for abortions for women who can\’tafford the procedure, with Americans split on whether women whoreceive

Accordingto the poll, 27% say that abortion should be legal in allcircumstances, 13% say it should be legal in most circumstances, 38%say that it should be legal in few circumstances, and 20% sayabortion should always be illegal.

MostAmericans have never favored using public funds for abortions forwomen who cannot afford them. According to the survey, 56% remainopposed, with only 39% favoring public funding for abortions.

A little quick math shows that 40% of the country feels abortion should be legal in all or most circumstances….compared to 58% who feel it should be legal in only a few circumstances or never at all.

And guess what:  they ain\’t all men either.

The political left, aided and abetted by most mainstream media, try hard to keep the general public from knowing that this country is very divided on abortion…with most people coming down at, or towards, the pro-life rather than pro-choice, position.

But you would never know this from the network news, would you?  When was the last time you heard that being pro-life was anything other than an assault on womanhood?

Why do you think Sandra Fluke, the consummate fraud from Georgetown U. (who is now running for the House of Representatives from California,  by the way) or Wendy Davis (whose great claim to fame was an unsuccessful filibuster against banning abortion after the 20th week – which a large majority of the country, women included, also supports) were given the red-carpet royal treatment by media?  Because they are being evenhanded in their coverage of this issue?

I keep thinking that it is not too much to ask that media simply report things as they are, without injecting their own agendas.  But I keep finding out that, evidently, it really is too much to ask.

Maybe someday things will be different.  I hope I live to see it.
