THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Ann Coulter.

Speaking of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley\’s (admittedly belated) decision to advocate taking down the confederate flag from the State Capitol grounds, Coulter said this:

“I\’m appalled by–though, I really like to like Nikki Haley since she is a Republican. On the other hand, she is an immigrant and does not understand America\’s history.”

So Ann Coulter is appalled by the fact that Haley now wants the flag down. But maybe Haley should be excused in part, because “she is an immigrant and does not understand America\’s history”.

Well, I\’m not an immigrant, and I don\’t understand either.

See, I know the confederate flag stands for more than slavery and an attempt to split the nation in two.  Just as I know the swastika predated nazi Germany (maybe Coulter would like to see that back in the mix also), and Halloween, which our Jewish children went trick or treating on every year, has its roots as a Christian celebration (and possibly may have started as a pagan ritual).

But, whatever it meant in the past, I know what the swastika means now.  I know what Halloween means now.  And I sure as hell know what the confederate flag means now.

I also know raw xenophobia when I see it, even when clumsily positioned as “well, since she\’s an immigrant maybe we should cut her a little bit of a break, since immigrants wouldn\’t know about these things (wink, wink)”

I award Ann Coulter Quote Of The Day honors, for being someone who, though an extremely talented writer who often is correct regarding individual issues, has taken so many vile, disgusting positions that she has become not just unlikable to me, but unreadable as well.

Wallow in your cesspool of hate and prejudice, Ann.   That, apparently, is where you want to be, and you\’re welcome to it.

Oh, one other thing:  Nikki Haley ISN\’T an immigrant.  She was born and raised in South Carolina.  However, it is true that her family came from another country — just as YOURS did.  You didn\’t even get that right.
