THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Baltimore\’s own Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who famously told us that the street thugs who rioted, looted and burned down buildings after Freddie Gray\’s death were given “space to destroy”; who stands accused of telling the police to “stand down” during the riots, when something like 160 police officers were injured while doing so.

But now that police are – understandably – reticent to aggressively pursue criminal activity, on the grounds that they might be the next ones charged with a crime against solid citizens like Mr. Gray and have their lives ruined, reputations shattered and bank accounts cleaned out to pay for defense lawyers, Ms. Rawlings-Blake has this to say:

“I\’ve been very clear with the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) that their officers, as long as they plan to cash their paycheck, my expectation is that they work.“

Asking Mayor Rawlings-Blake:  does that mean you\’re going to dock them for standing down during the riots?

Does anyone have the slightest idea what this Mayor – whose hairstyle seems far more carefully considered than her policies – means from one day to the next?

By the way, Ms. Rawlings-Blake…now that, city-wide, homicides are up 50% and non-fatal shootings are up 81% over last year, how\’s that booming tourist industry you\’re counting on for revenue? How many of Baltimore\’s restaurants and hotels have sent you letters of commendation for helping them to prosper during what would normally be a very heavy season?

I award Stephanie Rawlings-Blake Quote Of The Day honors, for taking an impossibly out-of control situation and, against all odds, making it even worse.

Finally, to the people of Baltimore:  please remember that  you elected Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, and the hopelessly inept, compromised State\’s Attorney marilyn mosby.  If you like what you\’re getting from them, be sure to do the same next time around.  If not…………..
