Today\’s quote comes to us from the Mayor of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Here is her explanation of how she views procedure when there is rioting on the streets of the city she is sworn to uphold the laws in. The bold print is mine:
I\’ve made it very clear that I work with the police, and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters could exercise their right to free speech. It\’s a very delicate balancing act because while we tried to make sure they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we gave those who wished to destroy space to do that, as well. And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to deescalate. And that\’s what you saw.
Wow. You can\’t say Ms. Rawlings-Blake just pumps out standard-issue responses. I mean, how many other major city mayors will freely admit to giving rioters and looters “space to do that”?
Incidentally, CBS-Baltimore is reporting that “The Baltimore Police Department says they have received a credible threat that numerous gangs have entered into a partnership to \’take-out\’ law enforcement officers.”
Will Mayor Rawlings-Blake give the gangs conspiring to take out police officers “space to do that” also?
And will she give the stores that were damaged and looted some financial space to repair their businesses? Or is that on the businesses, which now will be charged the full deductible and have their property damage premiums raised through the roof?
I award Quote Of The Day honors jointly to Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake for showing the citizens of Baltimore what magnificent “leadership” she provides, and the citizens who elected her for bringing that “leadership” on themselves.
