THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Rutgers Professor Brittney Cooper – someone I have written about several times in the past – the last time being in November.

Ms. Cooper does not come across well to me.  She is consumed by victimhood and oppression and anger, sees everything in racial and gender terms, and lashes out with racial and gender hatred.

Here is her take on the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act:

“This kind of legislation is rooted in a politics that gives white people the authority to police and terrorize people of color, queer people and poor women.  That means these people don\’t represent any kind of Christianity that looks anything like the kind that I practice…This white, blond-haired, blue-eyed, gun-toting, Bible-quoting Jesus of the religious right is a god of their own making. I call this god, the god of white supremacy and patriarchy…This God isn\’t the God that I serve…He might be \’biblical\’ but he\’s also an asshole.”

What a lovely sentiment.

In an earlier blog, I put up the actual law, so people could see that it does not in any way speak to discrimination against gay people (yes, I know it has quickly been amended to say so in specific terms – as a political reaction to the media-created firestorm which “told” people the law could conceivably have been used for discriminatory purposes, not because it was actually written to do so).

But none of that matters to Brittney Cooper.  To her, this is all a plot by White people – they\’re out to get her every second of every day – whom she negatively stereotypes in the sickest ways she can think of, curses out the God they worship, and does so, presumably, in the name of racial, gender and sexual-orientation tolerance.

I award Brittney Cooper Quote Of The Day Honors for showing us what a combination of personal race hatred, political correctness and hypocrisy can result in.  It\’s worth knowing, if only to know what we should be avoiding in our own lives.
