Today’s quote comes to us from former hostshot Democrat operative Paul Begala.
Mr. Begala, who still is a hardline Democrat and still avidly roots for his party, was on Bill Maher’s “Real Time” show on Friday, where he decried the party’s move toward identity politics at the expense of what used to be called “bread and butter issues”.
Here is how Begala put it:
“We used to be the party of the factory floor, and now we’re the party of the faculty lounge.”
Paul Begala wins Quote Of The Day honors for saying so much with so few words; for perfectly encapsulating one of the major mistakes his party has made in recent years – mistakes that have pushed more and more working-class people away.
I’m not always a fan of what Mr. Begala has to say. But on that characterization? He hit the nail on the head.
