THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Stephanie Ruhle, host of “The 11th Hour” on what now is MSNBC, but as of tomorrow will be MS NOW.

Here, from her interview with Stephen A. Smith on his “Straight Shooter” show, is her explanation of why she does not have Republican guests:

“It is my job, thank you, not to bring on spokespeople, not to bring on talking heads or pundits. I will tell you, and it’s a big frustration for me. I would love to have more Republicans on my air. And I think, unfortunately, right now, this moment that we’re in. Republicans who will come on TV and be critical of this president for any reasons get annihilated if they’re critical of him. The White House kills them, and then the group who will come on for the sole purpose of “owning the libs” or performing for the president.

“I want to be clear, nobody is invited on my program who wants to own anybody, right? This ain’t the NBA. Nobody is here to slam dunk anyone. I’m gonna take the most important news stories with the best reporters and explain them on our air, and then I’m gonna bring on the best analysts to analyze it with the goal every night, how do we help people get better and smarter, and if I can do that for one hour a day, that’s a win for me.”

Can someone explain to me what Ruhle said?  As nearly as I can figure it out, she won’t have Republicans on her show because if they attack Trump he’ll be furious at them, and if they don’t attack Trump they’re his stooges.

In other words, Ruhle’s problem is with Republicans do not support Trump and Republicans who support Trump.  All the other ones, I suppose, are just fine.

A question for Mr. Ruhle:  during the time she has hosted this show (since 2022) – most of which occcurred while Joe Biden was, at least allegedly, our President – did she also avoid guests who were Democrat “spokespeople, talking heads or pundits”?  Democrats who would have attacked Biden and Democrats who would have supported him?

Since, that would mean she didn’t have any political guests at all on her political show, it’s a pretty good guess the answer is no.

I therefore award Stephanie Ruhle Quote Of The Day “honors” for pumping out what may well be the most ridiculous explanation for why she refuses to have Republican guests on her show – i.e. anyone who might provide her viewers an alternative opinion of any kind – in the history of cable tv.
