Today’s quote comes to us from Virginia Lieutenant Governor/gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears.
During last night’s debate with Democrat candidate Abigail Spanberger, the issue of Democrat Attorney General candidate jay jones’ texts – in which he wished death on Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert, death to his children, death to police officers and said he would like to “piss on the graves” of dead Republicans – was raised.
When Spanberger refused to say whether, knowing this, she was or was not endorsing jones for Attorney General, Ms. Earle-Sears voiced this response:
“I’m wondering why my opponent won’t say, beyond its abhorrent and disgusting, why she won’t say it is not okay and that he must leave the race because Jay Jones advocated the murder, Abigail, the murder of a man. “Would it take him pulling the trigger, is that what would do it? And then you would say he needs to get out of the race, Abigail? You have nothing to say?”
“Have some political courage. What you have done is you are taking political calculations about your future as governor. Well as governor, you have to make hard choices, and that means telling Jay Jones to leave the race.”
Despite this direct challenge, Spanberger again refused to take a position on the jay jones candidacy.
I award Winsome Earle-Sears Quote Of The Day honors for resoundingly condemning Abigail Spanberger’s refusal to answer whether she is or is not supporting her own party’s Attorney General candidate.
And I award Abigail Spanberger dishonors for her cowardly, politics-uber-alles non-answer. Is this “maybe I do, maybe I don’t, vote for me and find out” non-answer.
