Today\’s quote comes to us from Howard Dean – a former Governor of Vermont who, at one time, was actually considered a serious candidate for the presidency.
Today there was a terrorist attack in France, which apparently was perpetrated by Islamic lunatics who decided that working for a magazine which published material they considered offensive to Muhammad was a capital offense…and they were the judges, juries and executioners.
Mr. Dean\’s reaction?
“Istopped calling these people Muslim terrorists. They\’re about asMuslim as I am. I mean, they have no respect for anybody else\’s life,that\’s not what the Koran says. Europehas an enormous radical problem. Ithink ISIS is a cult. Not an Islamic cult. Ithink it\’s a cult…Ido not think we should accord them any particular religious respect, because I don\’t think, whatever they\’re claiming their motivation is,is clearly a twisted, cultish mind.”
Uh….Mr. Dean: the Koran – or the Old Testament or the New Testament – says whatever anyone wants it to say. That is why there are different factions in Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
Within Islam there is a large faction which obviously does not agree with your reading of the Koran (I didn\’t realize you were an Islamic expert, by the way…maybe you\’d like to tell us about the years you spent studying it).
No matter how hard you try to contort reality, this faction is not a cult. It is a branch of Islam – one which far too few Muslims who are not part of that branch dare to challenge…and far too many apologists like you try to rationalize.
I award Howard Dean Quote Of The Day honors for being transparent: i.e. being transparently full of bull excrement.
Try to keep the BS down, Mr. Dean. Or you might scare some out of the cows in your adopted state of Vermont…and if that happens, Ben & Jerry will have to come up with a new flavor most of us won\’t be buying.
