Today\’s quote comes to us from Newt Gingrich: former speaker of the house and architect of the “Contract With America” that propelled Republicans into control of both houses after the 1994 elections…but who has had precious few political victories since.
Well, he scores with this one.
Here is Mr. Gingrich, on CNN, as part of last night\’s Anderson Cooper-led panel discussing President Obama\’s “amnesty speech”:
“Firstof all, it\’s not the President\’s right to dictate, with the newlyelected congress which repudiated his policies in the election. Second, this is a gruber speech. This is vastly more thanprosecutorial. He is simply not telling the country thetruth…absolutely dishonest…
…theConstitution doesn\’t say \’the President should obey the lawuntil he gets frustrated.\’ Now, the President\’s argument is, gee,\’I was patient for a long time.\’ Well, who is he to be patient? The Constitution is a larger system in which he\’s one piece.
Gingrich says a lot more – therefore very worthwhile to click here for Curtis Houck\’s blog about it (with video) at newsbusters.org.
Whatever you think of Newt Gingrich, the man has a talent for laying out entire thoughts in very few words. And, in this case, his thoughts are right on target. Which is why he wins Quote Of The Day honors today.
