Finally, honesty from someone in the Obama administration.
Today\’s quote comes to us from a year-old video, just made public, featuring one of the key architects of ObamaCare – MIT economist Jonathan Gruber.
Here is Professor Gruber explaining how the administration was able to push ObamaCare through:
“Thisbill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score themandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the billdies. Okay, so it\’s written to do that. In terms of riskrated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people aregoing to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in andsick people get money, it would not have passed… Lackof transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, callit the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basicallythat was really really critical for the thing to pass. It\’s asecond-best argument. Look, I wish Mark was right that we could makeit all transparent, but I\’d rather have this law than not.
You can\’t say that isn\’t honest an honest explanation.
Unfortunately, you can say that, to foist ObamaCare on us, we were lied to, the true nature of the legislation was torturously distorted, and the public was seen as too stupid to understand how terrific ObamaCare was if they were told the truth about it.
Do I harbor ill feeling toward Gruber for being such a self-superior jerk that he, in a moment of candor, told us his support of ObamaCare was more important than the public\’s right to know the facts and make its decision based on them?
Yes I do. But no more so than numerous other members of this thoroughly dishonest, self-superior administration — right up to the top.
I award Jonathan Gruber Quote Of The Day honors for letting his defenses down for one brief shining moment, and telling us just what Obama & Co. think of us.
Oh, by the way, according to Curtis Houck\’s blog at newsbusters.org, not one of the network news shows – neither morning nor evening – mentioned a thing about this. A creator of ObamaCare telling us in so many words that the administration intentionally lied about the actual nature of the system to push it through, and that was not important enough to inform viewers about.
But listen to them squeal like stuck pigs if you call them biased.
