Today’s quote is a commentary on the presidential race so far. It comes to us from an unnamed source, described only as “a top Democrat on the Hill”.
His/her assessment – a lament that Democrat primary voters are not gravitating toward potential candidates that can beat Trump – was written in New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd’s latest whine-a-thon, which continues her increasingly tedious mantra that President Trump is the worst person in the world and anyone who supports him is tied for #2:
“Donald Trump is narrowcasting to African-Americans and Latinos with his Super Bowl ad and at the State of the Union, and the economy’s doing well, and meanwhile we’re fiddling around with a Socialist and Encyclopedia Brown,”
Just a wild guess: that might refer to Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg.
I am not surprised at all Ms. Dowd would feature such a comment, since it is cynically negative – a style she has perfected over many years.
I award the person who provided it Quote Of The Day honors for a nice encapsulation of where things are currently heading….with the understanding that this is politics, and they can veer very quickly in a different direction.
Democrats better hope so.
