Today\’s quote comes to us from Terry O\’Neill, who heads the National Organization for Women (NOW).
Here is her demand that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell resign:
“TheNFL has lost its way. It doesn\’t have a Ray Rice problem; it has aviolence against women problem… The only workable solution is for Roger Goodell to resignand for his successor to appoint an independent investigator withfull authority to gather factual data about domestic violence, datingviolence, sexual assault and stalking within the NFL community and torecommend real and lasting reforms.”
That\’s nice. Great publicity-getter, Terry.
The fact that Ray Rice, and other NFLers in the past, have physically abused women is undeniable. And I\’m glad to see that NOW is so concerned about it.
But is your protest because you care about women being abused, or because you care about getting NOW in the news, and generating some $$$?
Tell us, Terry: how many demands have you made, for example, in front of Mosques that their Imams either denounce honor killings or resign? That they denounce shari\’a law, which consigns women to a status slightly below that of barnyard animals?
How many protests have you mounted in front of Islamic countries\’ embassies demanding equal rights for women?
Hypocrisy of this dimension should not go unnoticed. So, for showing us, again, that NOW does not give a damn about women; it gives a damn about high-profile incidents that can generate lots of publicity and lots of $$$, you win Quote of The Day Honors.
Congratulations to you.
