As we learn again and again, politicians – most recently Democrats such as New York State Attorney General Letitia James and California Senator Adam Schiff – lie about their residential status to get better mortgage rates.
Add Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to the list.
I urge you to read Joel Gilbert’s article at thegatewaypundit.com for all the particulars. But, for now, let me show you just one issue: his claim that the Virginia home he and his wife own is his “principal residence”. From Mr. Gilbert’s article:
Despite serving as a Congressman from California’s 15th District and claiming Hometown: Livermore on his official House profile, Swalwell has declared his Washington, DC property as his “principal residence.”
A public Deed of Trust for Swalwell’s DC home at 209 S Street NE, dated April 18, 2022, confirms the property is designated as his “principal residence” as a condition of the loan.

If Swalwell’s true domicile is in Washington, DC, the city where he has declared his principal residence, he may no longer meet the basic requirement of being a California “inhabitant.”
Public records searches have not revealed any home ownership or lease under Eric Swalwell’s name in California.
The address most often associated with his background in Livermore, 320 Michell Court, is only a three-bedroom, 1,350 square feet home that belongs to the Mrzywka family who has lived there continuously since 2008, making it highly unlikely that Swalwell resides there today.
Uh…..if Eric Swalwell’s primary residence is in Virginia, how does that square with his residency requirement in California?
But wait, there’s more. If his principal residence is in California, how does that square with the fact that, we are told, he declared the Virginia home to be his principal residence on the mortgage application? That would constitute actionable criminal fraud.
And that’s before we get to the fact, also detailed in the Gilbert article, that Swalwell – now 44 years of age – seems to have major issues about paying down his student debt and other long-standing debts.
Bottom line? Eric Swalwell seems to be working hard to prove he is even more of a dirtbag than his former House pal/now U.S. Senator, Adam Schiff.
It’s going to take some doing, but Swalwell clearly is making it quite a competition.
