THE PARAGRAPHS OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

Today\’s paragraphs award goes to Kyle Smith, writing for the New York Post.

This, in part, is what he has to say about what the Benghazi hearing, told us about Hillary Clinton:

The media has beenwaiting to be shown a smoking gun in the Benghazi hearings and, not having seenany, declares the sessions a victory for Clinton. But Benghazi isn\’t about ascandal per se.

Yes, it\’s scandalousthat the Obama administration lied about the motivation for the attacks being aYouTube video, but that is old news and anyway Hillary wasn\’t central to itbecause she, unlike then-UN Ambassador Susan Rice, didn\’t go on the Sunday talkshows to issue bald-faced lies.

But here\’s what theSherlocks who declare they can\’t find a smoking gun miss: There doesn\’t have tobe corruption or mendacity involved in Benghazi to show poor leadership.

“I didn\’t get thememo” is not an answer a chief executive of most organizations could expect toget away with.

Attacks on ourdiplomatic posts overseas are nothing new – bombings and other kinds of attacksare fairly routine – but Benghazi was unusual in that it happened so slowly, over a period of eight hours, that Washington actually could have helped.

Benghazi tells us alot about how Hillary would govern as president: with little accountability.

Lying?  Yes, always.  But incompetence, lack of responsibility, lack of accountability, and zero sincerity as well.

Kyle Smith wins Paragraphs Of The Day honors for remind those of us who need the reminder (and, sad to say, there are a ton of us who qualify) that someone whose idea of answering questions is to stick her chin out and repeat lies she has already told, still without fear that a mostly fawning, adoring media will call her out on them – should not be sitting in the Oval Office.

Thank you.  All too many of us needed that.
