THE PARAGRAPHS OF THE DAY

Today’s paragraphs come to us from Paul Mirengoff, writing for powerlineblog.com.  They concern a topic I’ve discussed here this week – retroactive CYA attacks on Bill Clinton being made by some of the same people who had no problem with his sexual predations when it actually would have meant something – up to and including last year’s presidential election.

Says Mr. Mirengoff:

Is there anything in the news more farcical than liberals and feminists saying it’s time for “a reckoning with Bill Clinton”? Clinton was credibly accused of severe sexual misconduct by several women. One of them, Juanita Broaddrick, alleged that Clinton raped her. Her claim was highly credible, inasmuch as she complained contemporaneously to five people.

Clinton also admitted, after brazenly lying about it, to having sex with Monica Lewinsky. The White House intern was barely out of her teens at the time.

If Roy Moore, against whom no allegation of sexual misconduct has been conclusively established, is unfit to occupy one of 100 Senate seats, then surely Bill Clinton was unfit to serve as our president. Yet Democrats and feminists rallied to Clinton’s defense, while shrugging off, if not applauding the fact that the Clinton machine — spearheaded by Hillary Clinton — demonized Clinton’s female victims.

Did any Democrat or liberal media type say “I believe the women”? If so, I don’t recall it.

My only problem with Mr. Mirengoff’s analysis is that he, like so many other conservatives, uses the term “liberals” to describe these people.  They are not liberals.  They are anything but liberals.  They are leftists and hardline Democrats (mostly both).

That aside, however, the scorn he directs at these “Yeah, now I’ll say it;  see I go after both sides” frauds is 100% justified.

Where were they when these accusations were made?  When evidence piled up to support them?  And where were they when Hillary Clinton spent decades enabling her sexual predator husband by lying about his accusers and defaming them in a way that she – and her media toadies – would bitterly attack if it were anyone but Hubby Bubba?

Paul Mirengoff wins Paragraphs Of The Day honors for being as disgusted by their after-the-fact “reckonings” as I am.
