THE PARAGRAPH OF THE DAY

Today’s paragraph comes to us from Robert Spencer, who runs the website jihadwatch.org (not to be confused with White supremacist/nazi sympathizer richard spencer).

This is the first paragraph of Spencer’s just-published piece on whether stephen paddock, the mass murdering sub-human who took 59 lives (so far) and injured over 500 in Las Vegas, might have done so in the name of radical Islam:

Most people believe the Islamic State is lying in claiming any connection to this, and that Paddock was not a convert to Islam. But ISIS continues to claim the attack anyway, and does not have a history of claiming credit for attacks for which they were not responsible. Maybe they’ve started doing so now. Maybe not. They don’t seem to be afraid that Stephen Paddock will turn out to be a white supremacist neo-Nazi or some such. They don’t seem to be worried about being definitively exposed as grandiose liars.

Mr. Spencer wins Paragraph Of The Day honors for putting this in a way that does not prove a thing, but makes a credible enough presentation for me to stop and think about whether or not paddock was what ISIS says he was.

I’m not at all convinced.  But I am willing to hear more.
