Today\’s Paragraph comes to us from David French, who, when he is not practicing law, is a writer for the conservative magazine National Review.
Here is what Mr. French has to say about Donald Trump”
Saturday\’sGOP debate finally clarified the Donald Trump phenomenon. After months ofdominating the polls and millions of words of analysis, the grueling slog ofthe primary race is finally bringing the facts into sharp relief. Donald Trumpisn\’t a revolutionary. He\’s not a conservative. He\’s not even a populist. He\’sa Democrat.
Mr. French goes on to provide several reasons for this assessment, which you can read by clicking here. But let me put up a few of my own:
–Donald Trump is viciously attacking every Republican running against him.-He is attacking Republicans far more frequently and far more pointedly than Hillary Clinton, the Democrat front-runner.-He is threatening to sue the Republican currently closest to him in the polls, Ted Cruz, in an effort to have him declared ineligible as a candidate.-He is threatening to chuck the Republican Party altogether, and run third-party, which would almost certainly take more votes from the eventual Republican candidate than any Democrat.
With those factors in mind, which party do you think benefits the most from Donald Trump? Which party is Donald Trump hurting more?
David French wins Paragraph Of The Day honors, because he makes one helluva good point. I wonder how many Republican Trump supporters will catch on.
