THE PARAGRAPH OF THE DAY

Today’s paragraph comes to us from Suleiman Al-Khalidi and Ahmed Mohamed Hassan’s article for Reuters, titled “Arab neighbours warn against Israeli reoccupation of Gaza”:

Egypt and Jordan warned against any Israeli reoccupation in the Gaza Strip and appealed for uprooted residents to be allowed to return to their homes as the Arab countries’ leaders met Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday.

Help me out here.  Haven’t we been told for years and years, including every day of the war hamas started on October 7th, that Israel is an occupier of Gaza?

Then tell me:  how can Israel “reoccupy” a place it already occupies?

And if the answer is that the reference to reoccupation is from when Israel was in control of Gaza – i.e. before it handed every square inch of it to Palestinian Arabs in 2005 and after it was offered to Egypt which (to their credit) turned Israel down flat – then doesn’t that inherently mean Israel has NOT occupied Gaza from then until now.

And if Israel has not occupied Gaza since 2005, how come the “pro-Palestinian” protesters and their pals have been in the streets getting away with attacking Israel as occupiers all this time?

And if they are wrong about Israel being occupiers, how come most media have not pointed this out?

I award Suleiman Al-Khalidi and Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Paragraph Of The Day honors for, inadvertently and unintentionally, I suspect – simultaneously putting the lie to the claim that Israel was the occupier of Gaza, and for thereby shaming the media which never seem to find the space to inform their viewers/readers/listeners about what a complete lie it is.
