If ever there was a time we need secure borders this is it.
Which makes it all the more disastrous that Barack Obama is President.
The Southwest borderhas broken open in recent weeks, with non-Mexicans – and illegal immigrantchildren in particular – crossing at a record rate in October, according toBorder Patrol statistics that suggest the administration\’s victory lap earlierthis year was premature.
Nearly 5,000unaccompanied children were caught in October, and nearly 3,000 more had beencaught in the first half of November – a record pace for those months – and itsignals just how closely smuggling cartels and would-be illegal immigrantsthemselves are paying attention to lax enforcement in the U.S.
Worse yet, theincreases are borderwide, with every one of the nine Southwest border sectorsshowing spikes in what the Border Patrol dubs OTMs, or “other than Mexicans.”
Those who track theissue said the surges show a breakdown in enforcement, and called it worryingat a time of heightened international danger.
“We can defend ourcountry against another country\’s navy, a missile threat and even repel aconventional military invasion. But the president\’s policy of allowing anyone intothe nation as students or refugees presents a serious threat,” he said.
Translation: In an economy that has seen workforce participation drop to a 38 year low – in no small part due to people simply giving up trying to find jobs – and most of the new jobs the Obama administration brags about are part-time rather than full-time, record numbers of illegals are streaming in through out southern borders.
If we are lucky, they are Mexican and South American people looking for work – and who will work below-minimum wage, thus taking legal jobs from citizens. That\’s the lucky outcome.
If we are not so lucky, they will include drug cartel members and jihadists – the former to set up gangs,like the murderous ones in their native countries, and sell mind-destroying drugs; the latter to kill as many of us as possible in the name of their version of islam.
What do you figure the chances are that we are not so lucky? I\’d put them at 100%.
And what is the Obama administration doing about this?
The answer is that the most significant action they are taking is lying to our faces by telling us none of this is a problem. The way they lied to us about ObamaCare, the way they lied to us about the Benghazi massacre and the way they lie to us about almost everything else.
Over a year left to this horror show. I count the seconds.
