Yesterday we saw the result of hezbollah owned pagers blowing up. The result? At least 12 dead (so far) and a couple of thousands injured.
And today?
From Laila Bassam and Maya Gebeily’s article at Reuters:
BEIRUT, Sept 18 (Reuters) – Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated on Wednesday across Lebanon’s south and in Beirut suburbs, further stoking tensions with Israel a day after similar explosions launched via the group’s pagers.
Lebanon’s health ministry said the initial casualty toll was one person killed and more than 100 injured. Earlier the state news agency said three people had died.
At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organised by Iran-backed Hezbollah for those killed the previous day when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country and wounded many of its fighters.
My reaction to this is the same as my reaction to the pager blow-ups:
As of this moment, no one knows for sure how this happened or who was responsible.
But I think we can all make an educated guess.
And if that guess is correct? You’ll pardon me if I feel that congratulations are in order.
It couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of victims.
More on this as facts emerge.
Hezbollah attacks Israel every day. It is responsible for entire areas of Israel to have been evacuated. And it stepped up its activity after last year’s October 7 massacre by hamas.
In my opinion? They richly deserve what they got.
Now: will they learn from it and stop the attacks?
Don’t bet on it.
But here’s something you can bet on. Going forward, communications among hezbollah terrorists will be a lot less easy to accomplish.
Boo hoo.
