THE DNC RESPONSE TO HARVEY WEINSTEIN

It isn’t often you come across a statement this revealing.  But the DNC statement regarding Harvey Weinstein’s apparent history of serial sexual harassments is right up there at the top (or, more exactly, bottom).

From DNC Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa:

“The allegations in the New York Times report are deeply troubling.  The Democratic party condemns all forms of sexual harassment and assault. We hope that Republicans will do the same as we mark one year since the release of a tape showing President Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women followed by more than a dozen women who came forward to detail similar experiences of assault and harassment.”

“The DNC will donate over $30,000 in contributions from Weinstein to EMILY’s List, Emerge America and Higher Heights because what we need is more women in power, not men like Trump who continue to show us that they lack respect for more than half of America.”

Harvey Weinstein is, and for many years has been, a major contributor to Democrats – close to $1,000,000 in all.  Almost $300,000 of that money went straight to the DNC.

And the DNC’s response?  Well, he’s a bad guy but Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump and Trump.  Oh, and we’re giving 10% of the money we got from him to causes that will warm the heart of Democrats…while keeping the other 90% (wink, wink).

Does that do it for you?  I hope not.

But credit where credit is due.  There is value in what Ms. Hinojosa said on behalf of the DNC.  The fact that her statement quickly brushed aside Weinstein’s apparent transgressions and turned the issue into a political attack on Trump…which might hide the fact that the DNC is keeping almost all the money he gave them…is telling us something.

Here’s one thing it might be telling us:  why some Democrats were sufficiently dissatisfied with the quality of their party’s leadership to jump ship – more out of disgust with the Hinojosas of the world than support for Donald Trump – and vote for Trump last year.
