THE “DETAIN AND DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS WHO ASSAULT COPS ACT” VOTE

The Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act was sponsored by Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J. (who initially won his house seat as a Democrat, but switched parties).

The name of the bill describes the bill perfectly.  So how could anyone vote against it?  How could anyone vote against deporting illegals per se, but especially when they physically attack law enforcement?

Well, you’ll have to ask the majority of Democrats – 144 of them – who voted against it.

You can’t ask any Republicans, because not one of them voted against it.  Zero.

Want to know which ones did what?  Here’s the full list.

Does this affect your opinion of either party?  If so, how?

I ask this because, regardless of how your individual House member voted, whichever party gets a majority of the House is going to be running it.  So even if you are fully on board with your house member’s vote, your decision should also reflect which party you want in charge; the one committed to deporting illegals who assault police or the one against doing so.

That’s something to remember on election day.
