In my opinion, snopes.com is one of a number of “fact-checking” websites that, in reality, are partisan sites using names that suggest a neutrality they neither have nor want to have.
But credit where credit is due: snopes has just put out a major analysis that enumerates and exposes a number of the lies which have been told about Donald Trump over the past year.
It’s about time someone did this, and snopes did – even though their “conclusion” section does a lot of damage control on the outrage many of its fans will no doubt feel about an honest evaluation of this kind.
In reading the “lies about Trump” piece, it should be remembered that snopes has also put up a great many pieces showing Donald Trump as a liar and/or bloviator.
But the fact is, Donald Trump does lie and bloviate a great deal. Therefore, I have no problem at all when he’s nailed for it.
All I ask is that they nail Trump accurately, and that they go after the people who lie about him with equivalent fervor.
Snopes.com has, in this instance, at least tried to do so. I commend it for the effort.
