George Pataki was a three-time Republican Governor – an achievement both in terms of longevity and because, as a Republican, he won state office in Blue York.
So why, all these years after he had retired from office, did Mr. Pataki suddenly decide to make a fool of himself by running an unfunded, virtually anonymous campaign to be the Republican presidential nominee?
I doubt that we will ever know. But what we do know his campaign is coming to an end.
I doubt the remaining candidates are going to fight over his supporters…since, by all accounts, you could fit them into a shoebox….and still have room for one of the shoes.
For the good of their party, I would expect several other going-nowhere Republican candidates to follow suit in the near future.
