OAKLAND PAYING THE PRICE (BUT WILL IT WAKE THE VOTERS UP?)

Two stories about Oakland in the past week:

-In-N-Out announced last week it would be closing its Oakland location in March, due to rampant violent crime and theft. It is the first time in the chain’s 75-year history that it’s been forced to close one of its restaurants. The company told FOX Business that regular car break-ins, property damage, theft and armed robberies of customers and employees led to the decision to shut down.

-The Denny’s in Oakland, known for being “always open,” is now forever closed because of crime concerns.

The restaurant on Hegenberger Road, a mainstay in the neighborhood for 54 years, closed for good at 1 p.m. Wednesday. It seems like only the chickens that congregate outside the diner will be staying.

Add those two long-time iconic restaurants to the already-voluminous list of retail stores, pharmacies, etc. which have already closed in Oakland for the same reason.

Then multiply by the identical issue in just about every major California city, especially San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Next stir in the fact that California has lost – not gained, but lost – population in each of the last three years, disproportionately among more well to do people who contribute to, but now will be eliminated from, the state’s tax base.

And, finally, explain to me why we should not be blaming the Democrat politicians, who run the state (the governor, both senators – counting now-deceased Diane Feinstein, 41 out of 52 house members, mayors of the five largest cities)…

…and, most especially, the voters who, seeing what has happened to their state, keep re-electing these people to positions of power?

You get what you vote for.  I hope California’s voters are happy with their choices.
