NAME THE CANDIDATE

Ken Berwitz

With a major league tip of my imaginary hat to The Atlantic\’s Michelle Cottle, whose column I pulled this from…

Name the candidate:

-He\’s a loud, crass New York native who delights in politicalname-calling.

-He is filthy rich but peddling a very raw form ofanti-establishment populism.

-His business ethics are seriously sketchy.

-He has questioned Ted Cruz\’s eligibility for the presidencybased on Cruz\’s Canadian birth.

-He has a colorful marital history.

-The more obnoxious and controversial he becomes, the morehis supporters love him.

-He\’s considered so toxic by his own party that its leadersare actively working to tank his candidacy, even though he is currently aheadin the polls.

Pretty obvious isn\’t it?

The candidate, of course, is Republican Donald Trump……

……er, no, it isn\’t.

The candidate is Democrat Rep. Alan Grayson, who is running for the Senate in Florida this year.  And if you click here for the rest of Ms. Cottle\’s column you\’ll find a ton more where this came from, all worthwhile reading.  Here\’s just one more taste for you to show how deep this comparison goes – Grayson\’s description of his Democrat opponent for the Senate nomination:

“A lickspittle pillock”…a “Richie Rich” “spoiledtrust-fund” “faker” who “has never worked a day in his life in any real job” but whose wealthy daddy was “so proud that he was able to buy Little Richie acongressional seat.”

Maybe if their political aspirations don\’t work out, Trump and Grayson can tour together.  They\’d make Don Rickles and Jack E. Leonard look like the Waltons.

This is some election year.  Let me tell you.
