MARILYN MOSBY\’S “I COME FROM A POLICE FAMILY” CLAIM

As reported by Chuck Ross of dailycaller.com, this exchange occurred earlier in the week, during a bizarre interview between Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby and Fox News\’s Griff Jenkins:

JENKINS:  “Rank and file cops have said that you don\’t have their backs. What would you like to say to them?”

MOSBY:  “I\’m not going to comment on that.  i come from five generations of police officers. That\’s absurd. Of course I have – I work with the police department. We rely on the police department to get these violent repeat offenders off of our streets. That\’s absurd.”

Wow.  Two “absurds” from someone who claims she comes from five generations of police officers – which, of course, she does not.  Either Ms. Mosby is flat-out lying or she has no idea what five generations means.

For Marilyn Mosby\’s benefit, let me point out that if she came from five generations of police officers (that would make her the 6th), then one or more of her parents, her grandparents, her great grandparents, her great great grandparents and her great great great grandparents were police officers.

Uh, no.  Actually, she comes from two generations, not five.

But wait, you might say.  Just because Marilyn Mosby doesn\’t understand what generations are doesn\’t mean a thing.  If the officers in her family were fine, upstanding members of the police department…….

…….uh, no again.

From Chuck Ross\’s latest blog, we have this:

Mosby\’s father (was) a former Boston police officer named Alan James. In 1989, James and a fellow officer named Dwight Allen were arrested and charged with assault and battery for their role in several armed robberies in a high-crime area of Boston.

James was arrested while on duty at a police station in Dorcester but was acquitted of charges in the case in 1991. After acquittal he was immediately fired for conduct unbecoming an officer, according to the Baltimore Brew, an independent newspaper.

Mosby has not publicly acknowledged this mark on her family\’s policing legacy. Though, according to the Brew, she acknowledged her father\’s troubled past in a biography written for her campaign for state\’s attorney.

“My dad was a crooked cop,” Mosby said, according to the document, which was not released to the public. “He confiscated drugs and money from the dealers on a regular basis.”

With this in mind, maybe bringing up the fact that there were police officers in Ms. Mosby\’s family was not such a good idea.

But that doesn\’t mean there are no good ideas regarding Marilyn Mosby.  Here\’s one.

Ms. Mosby:  given the numerous mistakes and overreaches you\’ve committed throughout this case, how about recusing yourself and letting someone else handle it?

Or would five generations of your family object too much?
