MAKING JIM ACOSTA SOUND LIKE A FOOL

Okay, I admit this is neither hard nor unusual.  But still….

The following exchange took place today, between CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta and White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney, after Mulvaney mentioned that Democrats, by following Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s instructions and refusing to vote for a continuing budget resolution, would shut down the government:

Acosta:  “How can it be the Schumer shutdown when Republicans control the White House, the House and the Senate?”

Mulvaney:  “Come on you know the answer to that as well as anybody.  I have to laugh when people say that … you know as well as anybody that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass an appropriations bill.”

Acosta:  “I know that”.

Mulvaney:  “So when you only have 51 votes in the Senate than you have to have Democrat support in order to … fund the government.”

Jim Acosta knows, of course, that there are 52 Republican votes in the senate and 48 Democrat votes.   He therefore knows, of course, that, even with 100% Republican support, a minimum of 8 Democrat senators must vote approval of the continuing resolution for it to pass.

Which means he came out sounding like a fool.  Again.

What else is new?
