Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent: Calvin Coolidge
For a quiet man (his nickname was “Silent Cal”), Mr. Coolidge gave us a number of excellent quotes. And this is probably his most famous.
I wonder if the Kansas City Royals had it posted in their locker room, since they came from behind to win every one of the four games which made them World Series champions this year.
Congratulations to this hard working, never-give-up, eminently persistent team.
Oh, one other thing. Calvin Coolidge was the 30th President of the United States. And it has been 30 years since Kansas City\’s only other World Series victory.
Coincidence? You decide.
Me? I\’ll remain silent on the matter.
