Here is the predictable response from the UN on what is happening between Israel and Gaza, courtesy of excerpts from John Heilprin\’s article for the Associated Press:
Israel\’sair campaign in Gaza may violate international laws prohibiting thetargeting of civilians, the U.N.\’s top human rights official saidFriday.
NaviPillay, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights, said the Israelimilitary, which claims to have hit more than 1,100 targets that itsays are mostly rocket-launching sites, and the Gaza militants, whohave fired more than 550 rockets against Israel, must abide byinternational law.
“Wehave received deeply disturbing reports that many of the civiliancasualties, including of children, occurred as a result of strikes onhomes,” Pillay said. “Such reports raise serious doubtabout whether the Israeli strikes have been in accordance withinternational humanitarian law and international human rights law.”
I have a few questions for Ms. Pillay:
-Has she or anyone else at the UN bothered to take a look at where the rocket launchers are being placed by hamas? Because if they are in civilian areas – which a) Israel says they are and b) they always have been in the past – then it is hamas rather than Israel that is dictating the hits on civilian areas.
-Has she or anyone else at the UN commended Israel for warning civilians before the attacks are launched, so they have a chance to get out of harm\’s way?
-Has she or anyone else at the UN said a word about hamas\’ instruction that its people ignore Israel\’s warnings and stay where they are?
-Has she or anyone else at the UN demanded that the hamas charter, which specifies all of Israel be obliterated via jihad and all Jews everywhere must die at the hands of Muslims, be renounced?
If the answer to all of those questions is “no” (and, of course it is)…..
Then Navi Pillay and the Useless Neutered organization she represents, can take a long walk on a short pier.
