The AMCHA Initiative is an organization devoted to protecting Jewish students….who, more and more, need all the protection they can get.
The sad, ugly reality is that anti-Semitism is burgeoning on college campuses around the country. In the grand, 5,776 year tradition of blaming Jews for _____________(you can fill the blank with pretty much anything you care to, it probably will be correct), the United States – once a rare oasis of tolerance for Jews – is seeing a surge in attitudes and behaviors that remind us of 1930\’s – 40\’s Europe.
If you click on this link, you will find the list compiled by AMCHA of various types of anti-Jewish and anti-Israel campus incidents (and don\’t kid yourself into thinking they\’re that different from one another…they almost always are one and the same).
Things are as they are. And this “thing” has continued, almost unchecked, in enough places for a long enough time, to become an embedded fact of college/university life.
I feel that the more people know about this, the more able they will be to combat it, if only by speaking up about it.
Well, now you know.
