My previous blog pointed out that there still is no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia – and has not been for the over half a year Democrats and most mainstream media have desperately sought such evidence.
So how do they keep this “story” in the headlines?
Well, here’s one way, courtesy of an article from all Trump-hating, all the time, CNN:
Russian officials bragged in conversations during the presidential campaign that they had cultivated a strong relationship with former Trump adviser retired Gen. Michael Flynn and believed they could use him to influence Donald Trump and his team, sources told CNN.
Well, there you have it. There’s your smoking gun.
Except…
Flynn was hired as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency on January 20th. And, after it was determined that he had lied to Vice President Michael Pence about his connections to Russia, he was summarily fired on February 13th. His entire term of office was 24 days, which his firing occurring virtually the moment this information became known to the Trump administration.
In other words, Flynn lied to get the position, and was canned the minute Trump & Co. found out about it.
So where’s the story here?
The answer is that there is no story…unless you consider it a story that as soon as the Trump administration became aware that Flynn had be let go, he was.
But that would be a positive story about Trump, not a negative one. So forget the whole thing.
This is why so many people are standing by Donald Trump, even as he proves over and over again that he does not know how to keep that big yap of his closed or how to stop tweeting out ammunition for his many enemies. No matter how embarrassing his behavior, they perceive his detractors as even worse.
And it is why so many people don’t trust any “news” that emanates from places like CNN.
