ACADEMIC RACISM (THE “GOOD” KIND): CONT.

Here we go again.

From Andrew Johnson’s article at the collegefix.com:

The faculty government at Western Kentucky University has passed a resolution in support of a student government demand calling for free tuition for black people to make up for slavery, segregation and income inequality.

The Student Government Association resolution had demanded reparations “in the form of full and free access for all black people,” according to the measure.

Asked by The College Fix if such reparations would extend to people whose families were not descended from slaves, student senator and resolution co-author Brian Anderson declined to comment.

Wonderful.  What a great idea – guaranteed to eliminate racial tensions:

-“I am Black.  Therefore I am oppressed and subject to inequality.  I demand reparations for slavery – even though I have never experienced it and it is quite possible my family came to this country long after slavery existed.  I demand reparations for segregation – even though I may have grown up in an integrated environment and even though my family may have self-segregated by choosing to live in a primarily Black area.  I demand reparations for income equality – even though I may have grown up middle class, upper middle class or even wealthy.”

-“You are not Black.  Therefore you are a privileged class and owe me every one of these things.  It does not matter that you had no control over what color you were born, or whether your attitudes and behavior demonstrate any racial prejudice.  By being non-Black – read that White – you owe me everything I demand.  And don’t think there won’t be other demands as well”.

-“My hand is out.  Now fill it.  And if you have any problem with that, you’re a racist”.

Does anyone think this will create a positive perception of Black people.  Or give the warm fuzzies to White people who, in addition for paying their children’s college costs, will now pay for Black students as well on the basis that, because they are Black, it is somehow owed to them?

Does this, in any way, reference people as individual human beings?  Or does it exclusively define everyone as a skin color…no need to deal with anything else?

Could this possibly be more racist?

I’ve often pointed out that you cannot solve racism by creating more of it.

The Western Kentucky University demands are not only a classic case of pure racism, but an action guaranteed to take racial animosity from wherever it is and intensify it.

What next?  Will the same students, armed with their free college education (assuming they don’t demand A grades without showing up to class as well) also demand high paying jobs they do not have to actually work at, as payment for their being Black?  Free homes?  Unlimited food at the local supermarket?  If they are owed the free education, why not all those, and more?

But don’t expect to see this seriously discussed by the faculty at Western Kentucky University:  it is the quickest way to be fired and removed from campus.

And don’t expect to see it seriously discussed by mainstream media, even as this blackmail takes place at WKU and other campuses around the country (I blogged about similar demands at UCLA just yesterday).

Nope.  This is the “good racism”.  So it’s just fine.

How sad.  How counterproductive.  How wrong.

  • The Children of Israel were slaves to the Pharoah of Egypt in Biblical times.

Does that mean THEY get all that free stuff, as well ?

  • The Student Government Association resolution had demanded reparations “in the form of full and free access for all black people,” according to the measure.

If I am reading this correctly, they are going to kick all non-identifying-black people out of the college and give all black people free admission.
