Can we possibly be this lazy?
I just drove to the supermarket for an item or two.
Entering the parking lot, I made a right to get into one of the lanes…and had to maneuver around a woman who was sitting there waiting for a customer to transfer the contents of her shopping cart into her car and drive off.
There was an empty space three cars down – the one I happily pulled into. But no, this rugged outdoorsperson was going to sit there and save herself a total walk of maybe 60 feet (30 feet each way).
Then, while in the store, a woman passed me by in one of those sit-down shopping carts. She had to be 75 or more pounds overweight.
Was she riding rather than walking through the supermarket because of some terrible physical disability? I did not know…
…until I watched her get out of the cart and walk, with no difficulty at all, where she could reach for an item she wanted, then get back into the sit-down and “drive” away.
At that pint, it occurred to me that, if she had the full mobility she displayed, maybe her big fat ass shouldn\’t have been in the sit-down shopping cart in the first place. Maybe she should have been walking through the supermarket. It\’s not like she couldn\’t have used the exercise.
Oh, one other thing. Once I paid for my purchase and headed for my car, I passed the woman who wouldn\’t take the three-cars-down space….just now walking from the parking lot to the supermarket. That is how long she waited not to walk all of maybe 60 feet.
If this is any indication of how lazy we have become, we are in big, big trouble.
