I don\’t usually post readers\’ comments as a separate blog. But when someone responds to my blog claiming Hillary Clinton has little in the way of accomplishments to show for all her years in the public eye,by cutting and pasting material from a pro-Hillary Clinton source to “prove” me wrong, I want to respond a bit more conspicuously.
Here is what commenter “Shar” posted – in rust, with my answers in blue. Please note that, for easier reading, I have separated it into paragraphs:
You really want me to spend time with this extensive list? Seeing you are too lazy to look for yourselves –
She joined the Children\’s Defense Fund as a staff attorney in 1973. And what did she accomplish there?
In 1974, she was invited to join the Impeachment Inquiry staff of the judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives. She was dismissed from the committee by its (Democrat) chairman, Jerome Zeifman who said her work was shoddy and dishonest. Zeifman refused to give her a recommendation.
She joined the law faculty of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Yes, she was a member of the faculty. What did she accomplish there? Did her students fare better than the students of other faculty members? No answer here.
She founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and served on the board of the Arkansas Children\’s Hospital. Yes, when her husband was first Attorney General and then Governor she was able to do things like that. I agree that founding the group is an accomplishment per se, but what involvement did she have in these groups? What successes did they have that were attributable to her? No answer here.
She started the Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters. See last answer.
She was named one of the top 100 lawyers by the “National Law Journal” in 1988 and 1991. Funny, there is no explanation of why she got that honor – and there isn\’t going to be, since a) she was not named one of the top 100 lawyers, she was named one of the 100 most influential lawyers and b) that designation was based not on her accomplishments but on her political connections, which came entirely from her husband. Click here and see for yourself. That “top 100 lawyers” routine has been a complete fraud from day one. In truth, she worked for a disgraced law firm (The Rose Law Firm) and barely ever tried any cases – which didn\’t matter, because she was hired there, and advanced, as her husband became more powerful as AG and then Governor. Her time at Rose was not based on any “accomplishment” other than landing Bill Clinton. One other thing: if you read the above link, you will find that National Law Journal spent a decade asking her to stop claiming it designated her one of the 100 top lawyers, and she ignored the people there every time. Hillary Clinton has the ethics of a three card monte dealer.
In 1997, she initiated and shepherded the Adoption and Safe Families Act. Which did what? Results, please. And, while you\’re at it, please explain how she “initiated and shepherded” a congressional act without being in congress. Did they make her an honorary Senator that year?
She became the only First Lady to compete for a Senate seat and to win in the state of New York. Yes, I do not challenge that she was appointed and elected to things. Again, where are the accomplishments in those positions?
As Senator, she endorsed bills to \’extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11\’, \’pay for city projects in response to 9/11\’, \’assist landmine victims in other countries\’, \’assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care\’ and \’Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the Wilderness Preservation System\’. She voted to designate August 7, 2003 as National Purple Heart Recognition Day and swore to support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day and also, on a separate occasion, the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month. She passed resolutions to honor the respective lives and achievements of the late Alexander Hamilton, Shirley Chisholm, John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford. Hillary Clinton served on five Senate committees with nine subcommittee assignments: Committee on the Budget (2001-2003) Committee on Armed Services (2003-2009)[2] Subcommittee on Airland Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support Committee on Environment and Public Works (2001-2009) Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Superfund and Environmental Health (Chairwoman, 2007-2009) Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (2001-2009) Subcommittee on Children and Families Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety Special Committee on Aging. She was also a Commissioner of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe(2001-2009).[ She also held two leadership positions in the Senate Democratic Caucus: 1.Chairwoman of Steering and Outreach Committee (2003-2006) 2.Vice Chairwoman of Committee Outreach (2007-2009) All those words, and what did you actually say? She voted on things (like every other Senator does), passed some resolutions honoring people, served on some committees (like every other Senator does) and chaired a couple of committees (like every other Senator does). What did she ACCOMPLISH? What legislation did she write, sponsor and shepherd through to enactment? All you have done here is list out a bunch of boilerplate material that any member of the U.S. Senate could replicate.
On January 21, 2009, Clinton was confirmed in the full Senate as Secretary of State by a vote of 94-2. Her accomplishments in that role go on for pages. But, despite all those pages of accomplishments you are referencing, you have not named even one of them. Why would that be? So let me help you out by providing two: she did not have the Benghazi compound at highest alert on 9/11, the one day of the year that terrorists would be most likely to strike – which resulted in four dead Americans. And she has lied her backside off about the emails which she first did not provide when asked for them, and then “scrubbed” so no one could see what was in them. Now THOSE are accomplishments.
Shar ends with this: “Saying she has no achievements has got to be the lamest argument yet – find a better one. Sorry guys, you are significantly outclassed.” As you may have gathered, I disagree.
Who is more accurate here? You decide.
