With great thanks to frontpagemag.com, we have two articles today that update us on the overt/no need to hide it support of hamas and hatred of Israel.
First we have the UN article, titled “Hamas Isn’t a Terror Group, Says UN Relief Chief”, which is written by Robert Spencer.
Here is how it starts:
No sooner had Martin Griffiths, the UN’s Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, declared that Hamas was not a terrorist group than it came it light that at least 30 UNRWA employees actively participated in Hamas’ Oct. 7 jihad massacre of 1,200 Israelis. So now we see: of course Hamas isn’t a terror group. It’s a UN agency.
The Jerusalem Post reported Thursday that Griffiths said: “Hamas is not a terrorist group for us, as you know, it is a political movement.” Yeah, sure, that’s it: Hamas is a political movement that engages from time to time in mass rape and murder. Really, how far off from that are the Democrats? Give our sinister stateside authoritarians a few years, and they could be giving Hamas a run for its money.
In the meantime, Griffiths was calling for negotiations with the jihad terrorists who have repeatedly vowed to destroy Israel: “But, I think it is very very difficult to dislodge these groups without a negotiated solution; which includes their aspirations. I cannot think of an example offhand of a place where a victory through warfare has succeeded against a well-entrenched group, terrorist or otherwise.” Yeah, that’s why National Socialist Germany is a world power today.
And then we have the campus article, written by Hugh Fitzgerald, which introduces several videos showing campus support for hamas to prevail/Israel to disappear (with Fitzgerald providing particularly trenchant commentary about each of them) this way:
These campus nitwits and stormtroopers in posse endlessly chant their dislike — no, their hatred — for the tiny Jewish state, and their hope for its disappearance, with its Jewish population expelled or killed, so that it may be replaced by a twenty-third Arab state “from the river to the sea.” On the other hand, they find the terror group Hamas, “the resistance” that showed its mettle on October 7, thoroughly admirable.
There you have it. The hamas support/Israel hatred update.
I wish it were in some way surprising. But it isn’t.
Regarding Mr. Fitzgerald’s hopeful claim at the end of his article that “Fortunately, universities have girded their loins and are one by one showing that they are prepared to face down the pro-Hamas protesters…Things are looking up”? I wish I could find a reason to share his opinion. But a few schools’ half-hearted too little/too late attempts to deal with what pervades their campuses aren’t doing it for me.
And as for the UN? That is even more of a lost cause than the campuses….which is saying a great deal.
