Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) is in a very tough re-election fight against Republican Thom Tillis. The two are in a virtual tie.
Do you think that the voters would be interested to learn that:
-after Hagan voted for President Obama\’s so-called “stimulus package”,
-a business her husband owned, JDC Manufacturing, got a grant of $390,000 in stimulus money to improve its energy efficiency (lucky them),
-the improvements were made by a company founded by her husband and son (lucky them again),
-and when the improvements came in under budget, so there was a nice chunk of unused stimulus money, instead of returning it JDC pocketed the difference (lucky them again)?
I sure do.

Gehrke informs us that this story which obviously is a blockbuster, “has received limited attention in local press”. (Hmmm, media laying off a story like that for a Democrat. Isn\’t that special?)
However, mainstream media are no longer in complete control of what we know, are they. According to Gehrke\’s article:
…nowa Koch-backed free-market group is launching a major TV adcampaign accusing the Hagans of self-dealing.
“KayHagan said that the stimulus would help North Carolina – instead ithelped the Hagans,” James Davis of Freedom Partners Action Fundtold National Review Online. “What voters despise most aboutWashington is that they aren\’t playing by the same set of rules aseveryone else. The fact that the Hagan family business receivednearly $400,000 taxpayer dollars from the stimulus just reinforceswhat everyone already suspects. The Hagans got richer and NorthCarolina paid the price.”
Thesuper PAC plans to spend at least $1 million to bring that message toTV screens across the Tar Heel state, starting next week.
No wonder Democrats hate those Koch boys.
At the very least, this information, if used with even nominal effectiveness by the Tillis campaign, will keep Ms. Hagan on the defensive for the rest of the campaign.
And if used really well, it very possibly might be a game-changer which takes her down.
