GOODBYE TO THE TWICE-YEARLY CLOCK CHANGES?

Do you find it as annoying as I do that, every six months, I have to change every clock by moving them either one hour ahead in the spring or one hour behind in the fall?

Well, we may not have to do that anymore.

Yesterday the “Sunshine Protection Act”, which would, for most parts of the country (including my home state of New Jersey), make daylight saving time permanent throughout the year, passed the House of Representatives by a 308-117 vote.

It now goes to the senate, where I expect that it will easily pass, and then to the President, who has made it clear that he will be happy to sign it.

The only exceptions would be the places using standard time all year before this law is enacted – which, I have read, are Hawaii and most of Arizona.

My reaction, as you might have already guessed?  Goodbye and good riddance.  I hope you feel the same.
