Ifever a city needed some good news, Baltimore is that city.
And,finally, there is news about the city which, potentially, could be good.
MayorStephanie Rawlings-Blake, you see, has announced that – in a sudden about-face- she has decided not to run for re-election.
Herreason? “It was a very difficult decision, but I knew I needed to spend time, the remaining 15 months of my term, focusedon the city\’s future and not my own.”
I don\’t know what color Stephanie Rawlings-Blake\’s eyes usually are. But when she said that, I can assure you they were brown.
Paul Mirengoff, at powerlineblog.com, has a terrific summary of just whata terrible, incompetent, damaging Mayor Ms. Rawlings-Blake has been, and whyher decision to not run – thus to not be subjected to questions about herbehavior in office, most recently the insane $6.4 million dollar civilsettlement with Freddie Gray\’s family, before the facts of what happened areeven presented in court. I urge you to use the link I\’ve provided andread every word of it.
Oneother thing: I used the term “potentially good news” in thisblog\’s title. That is because, given that the voters of Baltimore elected Rawlings-Blake,and elected the absolute joke of a State Prosecutor, marilyn mosby, there is avery real possibility they might replace her with someone even worse.
Ihope for their sakes that does not happen. But I\’m not confident.
