This is a video of Dick Van Dyke, now 89 years of age (he\’ll be 90 in December)…..
….well, I could describe it further, but why not just watch the video of him dancing to the Dust Bowl Revival Band, and see for yourself. Then you can join me in marvelling at his physical dexterity and grace, which would be wonderful for a man one third his age.
What a guy.
And in case you\’re wondering, the woman is his wife of four years, Arlene Silver.
At 44 years of age, I hope she can keep up with her husband…..
Oh, one other thing. Click here to see Dick Van Dyke, when he was starring in Bye Bye Birdie, doing the great, show-stopping “Put On A Happy Face” number on The Ed Sullivan Show (it will start at about 10:10).
After being thoroughly delighted – I dare you to watch it without a smile on your face – compare Mr. Van Dyke\’s grace and elegance as an 89 year old to the way he danced then…in 1960, fully 55 years ago. See if you can find a difference.
And that\’s not all. At the end of the performance when the camera goes to Ed Sullivan, who motions to him and says “Dick Van Dyke, come out here, Dick”, notice that he insists on bringing the two young female performers he did the number with, so they would get recognition as well. Class personified.
What a national treasure this man is.
