Here is what Chuck Todd, NBC News\’ Political Director and host of Meet The Press, had to say about Hillary Clinton on MSNBC\’s “Morning Joe” show today:
“No, I think they blew it when they didn\’t turn over the server immediately. I mean, I think this one of those things that they could have, they could have – instead of saying, “Well, the State Department, it\’s up to the State Department to release the e-mails and all that, I think that they lost any high ground they could have had by being pro-active in, \’Okay, here\’s the server, Congress you can have it, take a look,\’ um, giving off the perception \’nothing to hide here,\’ instead of sort of, while technically following, um, the law and this and technically doing what they\’re supposed to be, giving it to the State and let State do this.
“They could have been more out front on this, particularly with that server. I don\’t know if there\’s anything they could do now to get out in front of it. I think now they\’ve just got to hope nothing is found.”
Really, Chuck? That\’s the big problem? If they had only turned over the server immediately everything would have been fine?
Hey, here\’s a thought – one that you might want to incorporate into your analysis: how about the possibility that Hillary Clinton didn\’t turn over the server because there was material on it that would have been damaging to her – maybe bad enough to significantly hurt – even end – her candidacy?
I mean, let\’s think about the scenarios: there\’s nothing incriminating on the server, but you refuse to turn it over, or there\’s incriminating material on the server so you refuse to turn it over. Which one do you figure makes more sense?
Either Chuck Todd:
– is astonishingly obtuse, or
-he is rooting so hard for Hillary that he cannot see what is dead-on in front of his eyes, or
– he realizes it probably means there was incriminating material on Hillary Clinton\’s server and has decided to pretend otherwise in the hope that, if he doesn\’t mention it, we won\’t think of it either.
Those are the only three choices I can come up with. Tell me: which is the good one?
