“I’m a donkey on the edge” was a line from Eddie Murphy’s hilarious scene at the end of “Shrek”.
Not to be outdone by the brilliant Mr. Murphy, we now have Chris Matthews’ “I’m a Democrat (isn’t that also a donkey?) on the edge” performance.
It comes after Mr. Matthews realizes that, if the mueller ‘investigation” didn’t indict anyone for collusion or obstruction, there is no way – other than snarky “we can’t prove it, but” garbage – that the report can accuse President Trump of either offense.
Here, from Curtis Houck’s article at newsbusters.org, is Mr. Matthews’ three minute realization tour (the final minute is an ad):
Ooooooh, poor baby. Here’s a MAGA hat for you to step on, so you’ll feel better.
Trump Jr’s abbreviated, nothing-came-of-it meeting in Trump tower, a cigar-bar meeting (?) and “all those meetings with Kiselev” – a Russian “journalist” are supposed to prove illegal collusion and obstruction of justice? Really?
If even mueller’s all-Democrat-all-the-time people couldn’t come up with anything to nail Trump with, maybe, just maybe, the reason is that it isn’t there.
But what about the other side, Chris? What about all those meetings with Christopher Steele, and all that money paid to him by Fusion GPS – which it got from Clinton’s law firm, Perkins Coie, which Perkins Coie got from the Clinton campaign? Isn’t Steele a foreign national? Weren’t Steele’s sources Russian nationals? Wasn’t his unverified dossier (even he won’t vouch for its veracity) the basis for this investigation in the first place?
I guess your rant about that side of the equation is not going to be heard. When it’s Democrats, it doesn’t put you on the edge, right?
Not for nothing to I call him Chrazy Chris.
Oh, one last thing: here is a reminder of what Matthews said last December 18th:
“The president’s children stand right in the line of Mueller’s investigative progress,. They stand as the next dominoes to fall.
“But therein lies the problem: Where earlier Mueller subjects have given Trump up, these two lack the option to do that. They can hardly testify against their father, which brings the country to the reckoning. If the prosecutor will not be stopped and the kids will not fall to him, we see the president’s adult children heading to prison.
“But what if the prosecutor were to offer the president an alternative? What if he were to say he would let the children walk if the old man does the same? … That would mean giving up the presidency in the exchange for acquittals all around ― not just for himself, but for all his kids.
“So let’s watch the probable events of the coming weeks bring all this to a breaking point”
Don’t hold your breath waiting for Chrazy Chris to remind viewers of that doomsday scenario. It would tell them too much about how far Matthews has fallen from the reasoned, analytical commentator he once was, to the joke that he is now.
