Some time ago, it was discovered that Hillary Clinton, while publicly demanding equal pay for women, was paying her female staff members a good deal less than her male staff members. (NOTE: So was Barack Obama. And I\’m betting both still are to this day).
Not surprisingly, our wonderful “neutral” media made nothing of this overt hypocrisy. In this country, it is good to have a D after your name.
Well, now we find out that Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT), who is making a surprisingly creditable run against Ms. Clinton from the left, has a similar problem. In his case, it is not a pay disparity by gender. (This is not to say he pays both genders equally; I don\’t know one way or the other — and, frankly, would bet the answer is that he doesn\’t.).
In Senator Sanders\’ case, it is what he pays his interns.

But if you go to Sanders\’ web site, to where he solicits interns, you find this:
How much are interns paid?
Interns are paid $12 per hour.
Is it just me, or do you also find a bit of a discrepancy there?
Now: Why did I pull this obviously true, fully referenced information from a right wing web site? Why did I not pull it from one of the numerous mainstream web sites carrying this information?
Uh…..because I can\’t find any mainstream web sites carrying this information. That\’s why.
I googled “Bernie Sanders pays interns $12 an hour” and looked at the first three pages. I found references to this blatantly hypocritical situation in plenty of usually-rightward web sites. But not one reference in any mainstream media venue.
Keep \’em ignorant and you own \’em.
