A quick question for people who support the concept of “sanctuary cities” where illegal immigrants are treated as though they are beyond federal laws:
Suppose, ,tomorrow, cities started declaring themselves sanctuaries where only traditional marriages would be recognized, and same-sex marriages would be banned. Would you support those sanctuary cities?
And, if not, why not? If there is such a thing as sanctuary cities, where federal laws can be ignored as if they did not exist, why stop at immigration?
Here is a pretty good solution to the issue: how about we have a constitution, it is stablishes a set of federal laws, and those laws have to be enforced. Because, otherwise, the floodgates open for ignoring all federal laws, and eventually we do not have a country anymore.
Think about it.
