Dear Ms. Smith: In today\’s piece about Brian Williams being hated by MSNBC staffers, you used the term “schpilkas” and referred to it as “extreme nervousness”.
FYI: the word is shpilkes, and it refers not to nervousness so much as to agitation and restlessness (“He has shpilkes, he can\’t sit still”).
A writer for a New York Paper not knowing this? All I can say is nishtu gedacht.
And I won\’t tell you what that means. Look it up.
