Ken Berwitz
They\’ve done it before.
A combination of the Obama administration and a determined, partisan media helped foist ObamaCare on us – which this country did not want then and does not want now, no matter how many ways both the administration and its fawning media acolytes try to convince you otherwise. Just read the polls….and be sure to go back years, so you can see this has always been the case.
And now, they are doing the same for the nuclear “deal” – which this county not only does not want, but emphatically, decisively does not want.
The latest data from Pew Research Center, which no one – well, no sane person – will ever accuse of being a partisn anti-Obama organization, just released its latest data, gathered from September 3 – 7. You can read the results here.
What you will see is that, in July, 33% approved of of the deal, 45% disapproved and 22% had no opinion. An even split of the no opinion people (on the grounds that they could as easily go one way as the other) results in 44% approve to 56% disapprove.
That was pretty strongly against the “deal”. But nothing like it is now.
In the latest wave of interviewing, conducted September 3-7, a minuscule 21% approve of the “deal”, 49% are against and 30% do not have an opinion. If you evenly split the other 30%, you wind up with 36% approval and 64% disapproval.
From a terrible 46% approve – 54% disapprove, to a godawful 36% approve – 64% disapprove. In two months.
If these data are correct, or anywhere near it, then Barack Obama and John Kerry have cooked up a “deal” that this country absolutely does not want. And which virtually every Democrat, whether out of conviction or because they are being pressured into it, is supporting anyway.
Whoever the President is in 2017, I hope that the first thing he/she does is to declare that this “deal” should have been defined as a treaty (which, of course, is what it is), that treaties require a 2/3 approval by congress – which did not and could not happen – and, as such, is null and void.
Or if that is not seen as a practical solution, to keep an eagle eye out for any action by Iran which breaks the treaty – a no-doubter, since Iran has already said it will restrict inspections of its nuclear sites – and then invoke Paragraph 36, which allows any country to get out of the “deal” in as few as 30 says.
And then, try as best we can to reimpose sanctions on Iran that Obama & Co. should never have allowed to be suspended in the first place, until it stops exporting terror around the world and renounce its stated commitment to annihilating Israel and killing Jews there, and everywhere else.
What an absolute disaster this administration has been, and continues to be.
Oh, one other thing. If this is not a wedge issue for Republicans in the 2016 presidential campaign, and in the majority of congressional campaigns, I don\’t know what is.
