BARACK OBAMA\’S IRAN “VICTORY”

Ken Berwitz

Did you know that Barack Obama has achieved a great victory in apparently getting enough Senate support to avert a veto.
If you are politically savvy, you probably are thinking something like “how could that be a victory?  You need a 2/3 majority to override a veto, so all this says is that 34 senators support it.  There could be as many as 66 who don\’t.  And, besides, every major poll shows that the public is solidly against it.  The only \’victory\’ Obama is getting is to squeak a horribly bad deal, that puts us all in danger, though a congress and a public that does not want it”.
All of that is correct.
But you\’d never know it based on the deliriously joyous accounts from the Obama-loving mainstream media.
A few examples, excerpted from Curtis Houck\’s blog at newsbusters.org, which I hope you read in its entirety:

On the heels of President Obama and Senate Democrats achieving the minimum threshold on Wednesday to preserve the Iran nuclear deal, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC applauded during their evening newscasts the “unstoppable” “done deal” that had Secretary of State John Kerry taking “a victory lap”.

ABC\’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir still hailed it as “[a] big victory for President Obama”…

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt saluted “a major win for the Obama administration”…

NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent and MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell continued on that theme, touting how “Kerry took a victory lap today…”

As for the CBS Evening News, it was held up by anchor Scott Pelley as a “critical decision” that\’s made the nuclear agreement with the terrorist nation “a done deal”.

Not one word from any of them about the fact that the public is solidly against it.  How solidly?  Here is the latest (Quinnipiac) poll result:

“Do you support or oppose the nucleardeal with Iran?”  Support: 25%  Oppose: 55%

“Do you think the nuclear deal with Iran would make the world saferor less safe?”  Safer: 28%  Less Safe: 56%

I guess that part of the “victory” wasn\’t worth mentioning.
Anyone who thinks media are not biased – heavily biased – does now know what he/she is talking about.
