THE CLINTON EMAIL SCANDAL – DEEP AND GETTING DEEPER

Ken Berwitz

A federal judge, presiding over a hearing Thursday afternoon to determine whether the State Department was sufficiently forthcoming about Clinton’s e-mails and e-mail policies, has declared that Hillary Clinton “violated work policy” when she used a private server and email account as Secretary Of State.

And before you assume it must be one of those conservative judges appointed by Reagan or Bush, please be advised that the judge, Emmet G. Sullivan, was a Bill Clinton appointee.

As pointed out in Joel Gehrke\’s article for National Review. this flies in the face of Ms. Clinton\’s claims that she “fully complied with every rule”.

A reminder:  in March, Hillary Clinton told us that…

“For any government employee, it is that government employee\’s responsibility to determine what\’s personal and what\’s work related.  I went above and beyond what I was requested to do.”

No, Ms. Clinton.  An “employee” (more on that word in a moment) in the federal government, he/she should be using federal government equipment, with its full safeguards, in which all material is considered work related and subject to federal oversight.

Federal “employees” do not get to personally pick and choose which emails are available to the government.  That includes you.

And where, exactly, des Hillary Clinton get off referring to herself as nothing more than a “government employee”?

She was not some statistical clerk buried in some unknown Department of Something Or Other, she was the SECRETARY OF STATE.  She handled sensitive, classified information every day.

And whether or not there was a specific policy in place, is it too much to ask a key cabinet member who aspires to the presidency to show at least a tiny bit of common sense?

She knew the kind of information she was giving and getting was sensitive and classified.  She knew that was the kind of information she dealt with every day.

Even if she didn\’t know which specific transmissions were classified, she certainly knew that a ton of materials which passed through her server would come under that heading.  And , just as certainly, she knew that there were sensitive, classified materials which emanated from her office, thus could not possibly have been evaluated and stamped “Classified” yet – therefore the claim that they weren\’t has no meaning at all.

Knowing all this, why did Hillary Clinton use a personal server anyway?

Well, we know it gave her the chance to personally decide what the rest of us could and could not see, don\’t we?  And I\’m not talking about her yoga classes or Chelsea\’s wedding dress, which no one gives a damn about.   I\’m talking about how she handled things like Benghazi.

There are very good reasons Hillary Clinton\’s email scandal has deepened.  And very good reasons it continues to get even deeper.

It is hard not to conclude that this scandal is a key reason why her poll numbers have done nothing but drop since she declared for the Presidency in April.

Hillary Clinton inevitable?  Believe me, she\’s evitable.
